Rosco'z Bar & Grill
was created on a lonely stretch of I-90 near Sturgis, S.D. in
1994. Local OB-GYN Physician Dr. Billy Fields thought up the
idea on the way to the hospital in a nearby town. Having moved
back to South Dakota in 1988 from Dallas, Texas, Dr. Fields was
intrigued with the rally and the wide variety of people and
activities. The name Rosco'z was "picked from the air" and the
staple foods were Texas style chili and soft-shell tacos. The
recipes for the chili and taco meats were created by Dr.
Fields. The operation started serving in 1994 at the food
court on Lazelle Street. A loyal following has been cultivated
over the years. In 1998 Rosco'z was moved to its current
location at Junction and Lazelle in legendary Sturgis, S.D., a half
block from Main Street.
Rosco'z started as a
family affair with sons, daughters-in-law, sister, cousins and
friends helping feed the thousands of bikers that descend on Sturgis
the first week in August. The business is now owned and
operated by Dr. Fields, his wife Nancy and his son Jason. The
Bar and Grill prides itself on using the Fields' ranch-raised Black
Angus beef that are bred and raised in the foothills ranch located 8
miles east of Sturgis, S.D. The operation has seen a lot of
changes both in the rally and in their business. The business
has grown into a year round Bar and Grill that serves great food and
a variety of ice cold beers. Rosco'z is proud to be a part of
the annual Motorcycle Rally and accepts the responsibility of making
the "Official Chili of the Motorcycle Rally." Rosco'z nightlife is second to none. Nightly
entertainment featuring high energy "Rock-n-Roll" bands performing
in the outdoor beer garden. Come join the fun, food and foolery at
